SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Silicon Storage Technology Inc. here announced a foundry and flash technology licensing agreement with Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd. in Japan, which will begin volume production of ICs using SST's 0.25-micron SuperFlash memory design in the first half of 2002.
Also under the agreement, Oki gains access to SST's flash technology for embedded memory in semiconductor products aimed at communications applications. The two companies said they will cooperate in new products for Bluetooth wireless systems. SST will receive royalty payments from Oki for products incorporating SuperFlash technology. Other terms of the agreement were not released.
"SST's products and technology will be incorporated into a variety of system applications at Oki, and we believe that they will be a perfect match for Oki's deep sub-micron foundry process," said Bing Yeh, president and chief executive officer at SST.
Sunnyvale-based SST also has foundry and technology agreements with National Semiconductor, Sanyo, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC), and Vanguard International Semiconductor.
