PALO ALTO, Calif.--Agilent Technologies Inc. today named the head of its semiconductor division as its new chief operating officer, replacing Alain Couder, who has decided to leave Agilent to join another unidentified company as chief executive officer.
Bill Sullivan has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer at Agilent after heading up the company's Semiconductor Products Group as senior VP and general manager since August 1999. The year before, Sullivan became general manager of Hewlett-Packard Co.'s Component Group, which is now Agilent's semiconductor group.
"We're very fortunate to have Bill Sullivan as our incoming COO," said Ned Barnholt, president and CEO of Agilent. "Bill has a superb track record at SPG, and he is extremely strong on operational issues."
Replacing Sullivan as general manager of the semiconductor group is Dick Chang, who is currently vice president and GM of the Network Solutions Division within the Semiconductor Products Group. Chang assumes his new position effective Friday (March 1). Chang has worked more than 30 years for HP and Agilent. He was previously the vice president and general manager of the Integrated Circuit Business Division.
